The Wonders of Essential Oils 🌹🌼🌸

When I was little I had a best friend whose dad lived in the most amazing mansion,  with the most amazing grounds and gardens to explore in 🌲🌾🌼🌳🍃🌸

It was purely magical, especially at that age, where your imagination can run wild 💕

My older sister was best friends with her older brother, and they would run off together exploring the woods, climbing trees and being total Tom boys. But Poppy and I on the other hand, were very much the opposite and SUCH girly girls 👭

Instead of climbing trees and play fighting, we would be out gathering & picking flowers to take back to the bathroom, ready to make potions, perfumes and flower press! 🌼🌸🌷🌺

I hold such fond childhood memories of that place and time, and feel like my love for nature and flowers has just progressed into a slightly different avenue, into the magical world of essential oils.

I absolutely love using them for every and any reason. I’m addicted to my air diffuser and use it daily; filling it with whatever scent I’m feeling in that moment. It’s amazing what the power of smell and scent does to us as humans.

I really love using lemongrass for when I have massage clients over, because it’s light, aromatic, relaxing yet energising 💫

Depending on the mood and needs of the client on that day, I like to change it up to reflect that too.

I’ve been using a lot of lavender recently. This past week I’ve had a number of people come in the shop for advice on what product to buy, and what type of massage is best to de-stress, specifically for anxiety. Not sure what’s in the air right now, but somethings going on!

I think everyone is so busy now it’s summer, when you want to be doing every single thing you can before the sun goes down, making the most of every minute, that when you stop your mind has gone a bit haywire. Also people working crazy up until their holidays, and then when everything comes to a stop, the mind doesn’t allow it and anxiety levels go through the roof.

So let this be a reminder to stay present and grounded- do some deep breathing, stretch out your body and focus on the now, because that is the only moment we have! 🙏🏾

So slight digression, but yet again lavender comes out on top for relaxing the mind, and is top of my list of recommendations for anyone going through something similar 🌾🌸

Put a few drops on your pillow or eye mask at night, use a lavender & chamomile body lotion or an oil and rub it on some pressure points, or even get yourself a lavender room spray or diffuser for spreading that stuff into the atmosphere!

I recently invested in some lovely essential oils from a brand called Mystic moments. I got their classics set but also a set called ‘Floral favourites’, and they totally reminded me of those magical times, and I’m really looking forward to incorporating them with my clients (mixing them in my base oils) and for myself (in my air diffuser, addicted to that thing ever since I was gifted it and highly recommend you investing in one too!), because I’m all about that self love club! 💓🙏🏾✨

Our sense of smell is a powerful thing, and can take us back to places and times from years back that you might have long forgotten, but then they resurface in the most magical way!

I was massaging a lady the other week and she was wearing a scent that I hadn’t smelt in years. 7 years to be exact! It was the exact same smell of the perfume I once bought at a street market in Thailand when I lived and taught there back in 2011. It filled me with total nostalgia and took me back to so many memories I had long forgotten about. How cool is that! I’m sure you have all had a similar experience at some point in your life too.

Life is pretty magical.

With health & love always,

Ali x
